There will also be auto combos and optional one button specials for the inexperienced players. The controls will also be smoothed out and more lenient and the game speed will increase. The roster will be rebalanced, while adding new characters. The updated ASBR will change the gameplay quite a bit. Overall, the impression is poor among hardcore players, but honestly outside of that, it was fine outside of the story mode and its stamina system, which admittedly was one of the dealbreakers for casual players. The roster is unbalanced overall, but at least the characters stand out and there are some cool combos to be found.ĪSB was infamous for its infinite juggle combos that were easy to do, which is a huge contributor to the game being considered “brain dead.” I think this got fixed ‘cause I haven’t seen it as of late, but I don’t follow this game’s competitive scene. One positive thing to say is that there is a fair amount of variety in the roster, despite it being huge. It feels more like a 2D fighting game, weirdly enough. The slower speed really doesn’t help here, which is probably why the remaster is adjusting the gameplay speed.ĭespite being a 3D fighting game, a lot of attacks have good tracking so sidestep is not very good outside of dodging projectiles and only results in most hitboxes being very janky ‘cause of the Z-axis. It feels more like a JoJo game with fighting game combat rather than a fighting game with a JoJo skin like HFTF is. Nitpicking aside, ASB is considered one of those games with not much nuance or depth to the gameplay compared to more considered fighting games like Street Fighter or Tekken. It caps at 30 FPS so controls aren’t exactly the most precise. The general impression in the FGC is that ASB is not a good fighting game.
